Sam Gendel & Ethan Braun / Rio Nilo 66
Subconsciously planned in Mexico City and subsequently recorded inside a coffee roasting facility in Los Angeles, Sam Gendel and Ethan Braun’s Rio Nilo 66 is as elliptical, elusive and unexpected as anything in the oeuvre of either artist. Equatorial and humid, the collection includes often hushed, microtonal pieces; 4th dimensional saxophone improvisations; post-language incantations; and a climactic meditation on mindfulness from iconoclastic actor Bill Murray. Originally released on a 30-piece run of vinyl in Dec. 2019, Rio Nilo 66 is now available digitally for the first time here and as a limited cassette.
